Macworld 2008 Predictions
3rd of January, 2008
It’s January again, time for my feed reader to fill with Macworld predictions. It’s something I usually like to participate in, though I don’t think I’ve once checked back to test my accuracy. I don’t follow rumor sites or sites like Tech Crunch that normally report on Apple leaks, my predictions are based on what’s been released or updated, what hasn’t and my gut feeling.
Firstly, there will be no iPod updates whatsoever. Every iPod has received a trillion updates recently already, it’s about time they let them plateau for a bit while they concentrate on something else.
It’s hard to say regarding the iPhone. I guess that if there is an iPhone update at all, and that’s a big if, it will be exclusively to hardware (making it smaller, increasing capacity, etc) or to software (some cool new app or something) but it will not be both and either way, it won’t be a significant update. What’s significant? It won’t be as significant a change as was the current Nanos to the generation before.
Cinema displays will get iSights, a massive drop in price and perhaps a redesign.
There will be an ultra-portable Macbook and significant updates and price drops to the entire Macbook and Macbook Pro lines. Mac Pros, iMacs and Mac Minis may get slight bumps but nothing significant, no redesigns, for example.
That’s it. Anyone, feel free to hold me to these after the keynote.
